I first noted the North Carolina RE3 project last Fall. I was so impressed by their use of marketing and social media approaches that I encouraged Kelley Dennings to submit an abstract for presentation at the Social Marketing in Public Health Conference. Well, she had her own breakout session today and I hope that this is a milestone for the regular appearance of environmental social marketing in the program. That Jay Kassirer, who will do his 'Confessions of an Environmental Social Marketer' at tomorrow's plenary, as well as someone else doing water conservation programs in Florida were in the audience may also be a sign that we are moving out of the predominant 'health behavior' focus of the field (or the environmental people are feeling more comfortable about presenting their work to this audience!). Anyway, great job by Kelley! You can see some of the project's latest work on YouTube - Epiphany seems to be the audience favorite. Their blog is here. And their MySpace profile.
Her slides, as well as most of the other presentations made at the conference, will be available online in a few weeks. I'll keep you posted.
Craig,
Thank you for the nice post. I have thoroughly enjoyed the conference. You have been quite an inspiration to me.
Look for even better things to come from RE3.org.
Kelley
