The saying that 'birds of a feather flock together' works as well for social networks as any other gathering places. When you are looking to reach certain demographics - say 18-25 year old women - which social network site might you focus your efforts on if you can't have them all (and why would you want them all)?
Peter Cashmore at Mashable (THE blog for keeping up with news in the social network world) writes:
If you’re aged 17-25, Facebook is the place to be. 69% of US females in that age group say Facebook is their favorite site, while 38% favor MySpace and 22% like YouTube best. College-aged guys also prefer Facebook (56%), while YouTube comes in second (19%) and Yahoo is third (17%) - MySpace, meanwhile, is only the sixth most cited site.
