Creating games for health behavior and social change is not a new idea. But creating a contest and offering a reward for the best ideas for a game that will further HIV prevention efforts may be. The Kaiser Family Foundation and mtvU just announced a $5,000 prize for the best game idea that will:
- Raise awareness about the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among 15-24 year olds in the United States and educate about key methods of prevention and risk reduction.
- Identify ways to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, with a focus on personal action.
- Address the silence, stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV/AIDS.
- Be interactive and able to live and be spread online.
The winner will be able to work with mtvU to make their winning entry for Activism: Change the Course of HIV Challenge a reality.
Another health game contest is being sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation at Games for Health with a $20,000 and two $5,000 prizes.
Note to entrants, sponsors and contest developers: Think mobile2 - like this mobile pandemic flu preparation game.
