United Against Meth
Nearly 200 people packed a meeting room at St. Mary Medical Center [Long Beach CA] for a forum on the dangers of crystal meth, its ties to HIV and the actions that need to be taken to address what doctors, health experts and researchers have called an epidemic.

Funding is critical, she said, adding that people were talking about social marketing and different models of treatment.
People also talked about deglamorizing the drug and making it "less cool."
Eastlund pointed to the importance of alternatives for those who are resistant to 12-step programs. "There's got to be more compassion," she said. "And we've got to take the judgment out of the people we're treating.
