In an article Tuesday, Federal efforts to achieve universal access to broadband Internet service is falling short of expectations.
However, efforts to make the extra airwaves available could be complicated because many television stations are moving to new channels within the broadcast spectrum band as part of the transition to higher-quality digital television signals.
"While we support increased use of this spectrum for broadband where feasible, we don't want to burden consumers by interfering with their ability to watch their local television stations," an FCC spokeswoman said.
