AdAge reports that 68% of all home Internet users now have broadband access and it is changing the way consumers and businesses interact with an increase in the use of streaming video (by news sites for instance) and video sharing sites (Google Video and YouTube).
...persistent broadband use has also conferred a benefit to news and other frequently updated Internet sites by encouraging more users to subscribe to RSS feeds. Because broadband users are more likely to sit down at the computer many times a day for a minute or two, they are likely users of services that provide them with timely news and content alerts.
So the argument that "most people" can't take advantage of new technologies to support and engage in public health and social change programs may need some updating. And BTW, how are you using these technologies for your professional development and in program design?
