Three conferences on social marketing have recently been announced, a testimony to the interest and support for social marketing approaches to address health and social conditions around the globe. Hope you can make at least one of them!
16th Annual Social Marketing in Public Health Conference, June 21-24, 2006, Clearwater Beach, FL, USA.
Designed to meet the needs of people at the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels in social marketing, the conference is divided into two major parts:
Introductory Social Marketing Training: This two-day training session, June 21-22, 2006 gives participants an overview of the social marketing approach and basic principles and practices associated with audience segmentation and formative research, strategy development, and program development.
Main Conference: The Main Conference, June 23-24th, offers a combination of plenary presentations by internationally recognized social marketing experts on topics of interest to intermediate and advanced attendees. Concurrent sessions, both invited and selected from responses to the “Call For Abstracts,” round out the agenda with specific examples of how social marketing has been applied in public health settings. Third Australasian Nonprofit and Social Marketing Conference, August 10-11, 2006, University of Newcastle, Australia.
The theme of the conference ‘Controversies in nonprofit and social marketing: The way forward’ reflects the fact that current changes within society and the environment are prompting nonprofit and social marketers to re-think the way programs are developed and implemented to gain maximum effectiveness. This Conference will address emerging issues such as the role of partnerships, social marketing’s relationship with commercial marketing and issues concerning developing effective campaigns. The conference is especially relevant to academics, marketers in the government, community organisations and students with interests in nonprofit and social marketing. [Link for more information]
Social Marketing Advances in Research and Theory (SMART) Conference, October 19-21, 2006, Banff, Alberta, Canada.
The conference will provide a forum for presenting and discussing high quality theoretical and empirical social marketing research, as well as an opportunity to network with other social marketing scholars. Original manuscripts and special topic sessions are sought for presentation at the conference. In an effort to accommodate all high quality manuscripts, there is no specific social marketing theme. In addition to social marketing manuscripts, nonprofit and corporate social responsibility manuscripts are also welcome. All manuscripts will be blind peer reviewed. Submission deadline is May 1, 2006. [Link for more information]
